Patient Resources

There is an abundance of information available on pregnancy, delivery, surgery and women's health. With so many readily accessible resources, it may be difficult to know where to start. To simplify things we have provided a few useful links below.

We have written some short educational posts addressing a variety of issues affecting pregnancy and women's health.

If there is a topic or question you'd like to learn about, we are very open to suggestions and feedback.

TIS National

Non-English speakers can access a telephone interpreter through the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National) by phoning 131 450. Tell the operator the language you speak, and the name and phone number of the organisation you wish to contact. It is free when contacting a government-funded service or agency (such as MotherSafe or Westmead Hospital).

RANZCOG Resource Hub

RANZCOG is the governing body for obstetricians and gynaecologists. It has written many patient information pamphlets about different issues in women’s health.

Westmead Hospital WNH

Westmead Hospital’s Women’s and Newborn Health website provides accurate, helpful and up-to-date health information for women in all stages of their pregnancy, as well as in gynaecology.

MotherSafe

MotherSafe is a free telephone service for women with concerns about exposures during pregnancy and breastfeeding. These include concerns with medications, drugs, infections, radiation and occupational exposure. To access the service please call 02 9382 6539 (Sydney Metropolitan Area).

The Gidget Foundation

The Gidget Foundation Australia is a not-for-profit organisation that provides education and programs to support the emotional wellbeing of expectant and new parents.

AGES Patient Resources

The mission of the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery (AGES) Society is to promote the safest and highest standards of clinical and minimally invasive surgical care for women. They provide great resources for patients including written material, videos and podcasts that discuss details of various minimally invasive surgeries, and what patients can expect during their journey.

IUGA Patient Leaflets

The International UroGynaecological Association is dedicated to the global advancement of urogynecological knowledge and patient care through education and the promotion of basic and clinical research on disorders of the female pelvic floor. IUGA offers Patient Information Leaflets in multiple languages, as well as videos, on a range of topics related to pelvic floor issues and their treatment options.

Cervical Screening Tests

The National Cervical Screening Program reduces illness and death from cervical cancer. The NCSP has created excellent resources to answer any questions about Cervical Screening Tests, why it is important, options for testing, and understanding the results.
